My name is Wasim Hajjiri and I am a Flex evening (’18) Rady MBA student. I graduated from Jordan with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Soon after graduation I went on vacation to New York. While on vacation, I received a phone call from my father. It was one of those heart to heart, father to son talks about my future. He asked me to consider San Diego and explore the opportunities in that city. Soon after that conversation, (5 days later, to be exact) I made a decision that was going to change my life – forever.
I booked a one way ticket to California and canceled the trip back to Jordan and had no time for proper good byes to friends and family. I moved to San Diego with nothing but big dreams and faith. Fortunately my brother who lives in San Diego put me up until I found a place of my own. My journey to a new life in the United States had begun, and I knew it was going to be filled with challenges. I had no friends, and my connections other than my brother were thousands of miles away. I had to adapt to a new culture and start making new friends.
